    GRE Information

Current GRE (Through summer 2007)

New GRE (Starting from Fall 2007)

Computer Adaptive Test (CAT). In CAT the questions are based on the performance of the previous question. So if you get a simple question correct then your next question will be a bit difficult than the previous one and vice versa. So the question pool for each test taker is different.

Computer Based Test (CBT). CBT are linear examinations where the question pool is the same. So all the test takers will get the same questions on a particular day.

The current GRE is designed for 2 1/2 hours

The new GRE would be much longer than the current version. It is expected that the time span would be more than 4 hours.

The current GRE can be taken on most weekdays and weekends. It is mostly year-around.

Approximately 30 fixed days per year.

The current GRE costs $115 It is definitely going to be more costlier.
